Each board is personally handcrafted by Matt Mellown in Andalusia, Alabama using carefully selected hardwoods sourced from across the southeastern United States. Each piece is shaped by hand - no templates, no CNC machines - allowing the natural grain and character of the wood to guide the final design. The surface is sealed with a durable, food-safe finish that enhances the depth of the wood while protecting it for everyday use. No two boards are ever the same. The shape, handle, grain pattern, and tone are completely unique to each piece. Our boards are wildly versatile, and we have seen them used as kitchen statement pieces, wedding and client gifts, camping trip must-haves and even conversation pieces hung on the wall.

Please note, your measurement preferences must match the board length you have selected in the dropdown menu during the checkout process. If there is a discrepancy, the size you have selected in the dropdown menu and paid for will be the size that is created. All attempts will be made to honor specific sizing requests, but please note that this is simply a preference, and is not a guarantee to be exact.

Each item purchased from our shop is handcrafted and naturally unique, with variations in wood and finish that give each piece its own character. While we hope it lasts for years - even generations - how long it endures will depend on the care you give it. Since each board is one-of-a-kind, we don’t offer formal guarantees against natural wear or imperfections. You’ll enjoy it best by embracing its uniqueness and treating it with care!

Due to the very custom nature of our products, returns and refunds are not available. In the extremely rare event of damage during shipping, buyer must photo document condition of box upon arrival as well as detailed images of packaging and Charlo Board in order for insurance to cover the cost of a replacement board.

Each Charlo Board is handcrafted to order. Because every piece is individually made by hand, time is needed for sourcing, milling, glue-up, sanding, finishing, and curing before shipment. Production times vary depending on board size, customization, and current order volume. Current turnaround time from order to ship is approximately 60 days. No two boards are exactly alike, and natural variations in wood grain, color, and character are part of what makes each piece unique.
